I’ve made a comparison between Mobigloo and 7 Dragons before, with Easy Calculator and Calculator. This time, the competing programs are Notepad and Sticky Notes (NEW — and challenger TakeNote).

After trying out both, this time I’m giving the nod to Mobigloo, with Sticky Notes. It’s more convenient than Notepad (or Takenote).

With Sticky Notes, you can type out any notes you like, very easily, and when you’re ready to save, the Back button is all that you need to save. You can zoom in on a note if you want to have a full page to type on.

Nine notes show up at once, and each note can have a block paragraph. There is no need to put in Titles as in Notepad.

One CON — In Notepad, you can access the actual .txt notes if you open up the .active-content-data/???/work/user folder, when the Kindle is accessed by a computer. In Sticky Notes, there is a DAT file, and it’s text readible, but it not a convenient format. However, emergency off-Kindle access likely won’t come up often.

I definitely prefer Sticky Notes over Notepad.

EDIT: Notepad 1.1 is out, and it fixes a few flaws. A text file on computer can be put into Notepad (slightly convoluted), and it is in editable form. So for things you’ve already typed, Notepad is better. Otherwise, Sticky Notes is better. Both programs are highly recommended.

    Sticky Notes v. Notepad, June 4, 2011

These are both very similar applications: simple word processors for taking notes, making lists, reminders, etc. They both function well for what they are. Neither has any sophisticated editing functions such as cut, copy, or paste.

I like the automatic date and time marking on Sticky Notes documents and the bulletin board-like display of the 9 notes on the intro screen is a nice touch as is the ability to re-order the notes. Unlike Notepad, Sticky Notes does have wordwrap which makes reading one’s notes a bit easier. And in Sticky Notes you don’t have to think about a title for your note… it just displays the first few lines of text.

However, I find the screen delay in typing and cursor movement in Sticky Notes significantly longer than in Notepad. Annoyingly longer. I have a 2nd Gen. Kindle so I suppose that could be a factor, but I doubt it.

Bottom line: both programs are less than a buck. Try them both and use the one you prefer.

I wish I had seen this before the Note pad. I just love this thing. I use it for my grocery list, birthday reminders, Dr. Apt. and more. When Each item is taken care of I just delete the list or the item on the list.
For grocery shopping it’s great. When ever I put an item in my cart I just delete it off the list. Sure beats dragging out paper and pencil and trying to find a hard surface to write on.
You won’t be sorry if you get one. It’s great for separating your lists too. With groceries I have food items on one not and paper/cleaning products on another, then the garden supplies on yet another and so on. I could go on and on but you get the idea.
